Roth Information

The Wisconsin Deferred Compensation (WDC) Program accepts Roth 457 contributions, giving you the flexibility to designate all or a portion of your WDC elective deferrals as Roth contributions. How are WDC Roth contributions different from before-tax WDC contributions? Roth contributions are made with after-tax dollars, as opposed to the before-tax dollars you traditionally have contributed to the WDC. In other words, with the Roth option, you've already paid taxes on the money you contribute. With before-tax deferrals, you pay taxes when you take a distribution.

Target Date Funds are designed for people who may not have the time or willingness to build and manage their own investment portfolios. You simply choose the fund with the date that is closest to your planned retirement year (your "target date").

Target Date Funds are designed to provide a diversified investment approach with a changing asset allocation mix that helps you manage risk automatically as you get closer to retirement. Over time, the fund shifts into traditionally more conservative holdings by gradually reducing the allocation of equity funds and increasing the allocation of fixed income and short-term funds as you move toward your anticipated retirement date.

The date in a Target Date Fund represents an approximate date when an investor would expect to start withdrawing his or her money or when an investor expects to retire. Consult the fund's prospectus or disclosure documents for more information regarding the Target Date Fund's date. Keep in mind that the principal value of a Target Date Fund is not guaranteed at any time, including the target date.

Rather than trying to mix and manage a collection of different funds, you only need to select one Target Date Fund to ensure a diversified investment mix.1

The gradual change in asset allocation mix is also known as a fund's "glide path". This graphic is not intended to represent the actual glide path of any specific fund in your plan. For more information regarding investments in your plan, please consult the fund's prospectus or disclosure documents.

1 Diversification of an investment portfolio does not ensure a profit and does not protect against loss in declining markets.

The WDC offers access to three different levels of investment advisory tools and services called Empower Retirement Advisory Services (Advisory Services) available through Advised Assets Group, LLC (AAG). With the Managed Account service, you can have AAG manage your retirement account for you. Or if you prefer to manage your retirement account on your own, you can use the Online Investment Guidance tool and Online Investment Advice service. Advisory Services provide a retirement strategy based on your investment goals, time horizon and tolerance for risk.

There is no guarantee that participation in any of the advisory services will result in a profit or that the account will outperform a self-managed portfolio invested without assistance.

What fees do I pay to participate in Advisory Services?

While there is no cost to use Online Investment Guidance, there is a $25 annual fee, assessed at $6.25 quarterly, for Online Investment Advice. If you choose to have AAG manage your account for you, the annual Managed Account service fee will be based on a percentage of your account balance, as follows:

Participant Account Balance
Annual Managed Account Fee
Less than $100,000
0.45%
Next $150,000
0.35%
Next $150,000
0.25%
Greater than $400,000
0.15%
For example, if your account balance is $50,000, the maximum annual fee will be 0.45% of the account balance. If your account balance is $500,000, the first $100,000 will be subject to a maximum annual fee of 0.45%; the next $150,000 will be subject to a maximum annual fee of 0.35%; the next $150,000 will be subject to a maximum annual fee of 0.25%; and any amounts over $400,000 will be subject to a maximum annual fee of 0.15%.

Please note that the Managed Account service fee is typically listed as an annual fee, but the fee is assessed quarterly.

How can I get assistance with a retirement income strategy?

When you participate in any of the Advisory Services options (Online Investment Guidance, Online Investment Advice or the Managed Account service), you are provided with the added benefit of Spend-Down Advice at no additional charge, which helps you determine how much to withdraw from each of your retirement accounts each year during retirement.

How do I enroll in Advisory Services?

Log in to this website and select Advisory Services, or call (877) 457-WDCP (9327) for more information. Please note that enrollment is not required for Online Investment Guidance. It is available to use at no additional cost.
